The pharmacy chain Sykes Chemist Group has sold five of its 14 pharmacies to Manchester-based company Everest Pharmacy Ltd.
Christie & Co, who brokered the deal, said four pharmacies in Bolton – Gatleys Pharmacy in Tonge Old Road (pictured), Haslams Pharmacy in Halliwell Road, Rigbys Chemist
in Swan Lane and Howards Pharmacy in Chorley Old Road – were sold for an undisclosed price.
Paradise Street Pharmacy in Pals Health Centre in Accrington was also sold. Last year, it was reported Sykes was looking for £1.845 million for the five pharmacies.
Christie & Co said Sykes decided to sell the five pharmacies, which dispense a combined 33,000 items a month, “as part of a strategic review of its portfolio”.
Tom Young, senior business agent – pharmacy at Christie & Co, said “sites in and around Bolton always generate large volumes of enquiries”.
